The best all-around small engine!

I did a lot of desearch into the 2.3 to 2.6 HP engines before buying the Suzuki and in a head to head comparison with ten other engines in that range the Suzuki rated the highest. I also checked with the members of my square back canoe group as that was what I was buying the engine to power and they also recommended it most highly. Finally, I checked with a marine mechanic I know and he said he wouldn't know as they never break down. I took that as a solid referral! The engine has so far proven to be fantastic. It is very light compared to the other engines and yet very powerful and it uses a minimum of gasoline. Well worththe money! My only complaint is that no onetold me that I needed to buy marine oil for it. I live in a very isolated community 10 hours from the nearest city (I drove 14 hours each way to buy the engine) and when I tried to get it going and found I needed oil there was none to be had! This upset me deeply and I recommend thst all future purchasers be made aware of it as it is a simple but essential upsell.

easy to operate small motor. great to troll with and moves 2 people along in my Old Town canoe with side mount at about 10 kph up the mighty Churchill River (in the flat water areas)

Q: Does this engine have reverse gear?

    A: Hello and thank you for your question. The Suzuki DF2.5 does not include a reverse gear, however, does include a neutral gear. For reversing, the motor has the ability to swivel 360 degrees, which allows you to simply turn the motor and tiller handle to reverse.
