Works well, but delicate.

I am giving it a 4 star review based on how well it heats, though getting the fittings sealed and the flow rate set is tricky. My father gave me this last year to replace my home made sump pump hose heater, because i installed it mid summer replacing the sump hose i didn't see the full effect. set up and filled pool late afternoon yesterday. 10ft bestway. water was 9c after filling. this evening i checked the temp when adding chlorine, temperature is creeping 17c. It is a bit tricky to get the flow rate set for a decent amount through the heater pad and good enough output flow back into the pool for my skimmer to work, but once its set it works decent. I also put a 2" 4x4 sheet of styrofoam insulation underneath to keep the ground from sucking out the heat, seems to work well. I have mine in a very hot corner that gets sun almost all day, so placement is key. Not sure how long it will last, seems very delicate, but keep the kids off it and be gentle with it and it should last a few seasons.

Don’t even consider it

I can’t give negative stars so the product gets a one star. So I read the reviews and figured maybe I’d get lucky and it’ll be fine, the only people who write reviews are the angry ones. Well look at me I’m one of them now. Super easy to assemble took like 5 min and it even came with extra fittings to make sure that it fits most pools. So I carefully lay it out and hook it to the pool and it leaks water like a lawn sprinkler out of the mat. Not even the seams, it was like someone was poking it with thumbtacks in the factory. And even if it didn’t leak I think it would be really hard on the pump trying to push water through a 1/2” hose instead of the 1” 3/4 hose that comes with the pool.

Excellent heater, easy to set up

i recently purchased this heater and it was easy to set up, it works great for the price and hat it is. the issue with leaking and blowing apart has to do with the user and over pressuring it with their pump. if you have half a brain and understand how pressure and flow works this will be great for you.

Heats pool great, but manifold leaked right out of box

I bought this last summer, hooked it up and the manifold leaked heavily right away. Even after several attempts to re tighten valves.
Called summer wales last year and they said they would replace the unit. It has now been a year and I haven’t received any a replacement unit. I have called summer Waves several times in the last few months and have officially given up (Unit has been on back order for a year).
Besides the leak, the solar mat worked great. It increased my pool temp by 10+ degrees Fahrenheit. But sadly not worth the hassle topping up pool every few days.
No, I do not recommend this product.

A: Small output is normal as the solar heater needs to harness the sun’s energy firstly for water heating purpose, which is also why mat pipe is designed to be small

Q: would this work for my 24ft. above ground pool I know it will connect to my pool, just want to know if my pool is to big for the heater to work like it should.

A: This heater pool pad can work with 8’,12’,15’,16’, and 18’ sized pools. The solar heater mat can fit to the pool by using the universal adaptor. Filter pump flow rate 1000 gal/hr and below – can use 2 mats. Filter pump flow rate 1500 - can use only 1 mat
