Good price, good tent initially, issues when in use
11 years ago
Initially this tent seemed like an excellent purchase. It was roomy, seemed to be built well, and had features that were a nice addition (windows, vents, etc) Unfortunately, it seems as though this tent was designed in a warm climate; of course, the intended market for this item would be in a climate quite the opposite.
The main downfall that resulted in returning the tent was that the metal "hubs" that connect the four fiberglass support rods are made out of a cheap pot metal entirely insufficient to deal with with the elements of an ice fishing situation. Due to either the moderate winds, the -20*C temps, or a combination of both, one of the metal hubs snapped soon after set-up. This happened to two separate tents. If these hubs were designed better with a more durable material, our family would be still happily using this tent today.
Thankfully, Canadian tire returned the tents with no hassle.

c est la pire cochonnerie qui existe sur le marche,le bout des tiges cassent a chaque montage et ne les vendent pas en magasin,je deconseille fortement cet article ,,tres tres decu.......
I had a chance to experience, for a couple of years now, a Sub Zero two man tent that a friend of mine has. It pops up so quick and easy I barely had time to auger my first hole. A Sub Zero four man tent came on special at Canadian Tire so of course I bought one. Once at home, I opened it up in very little time as I expected. Same tent... just bigger. Put everything back in the storage bag and waited for the weekend to come to go ice fishing with my new purchase. Weekend arrived, out on the lake, freezing cold outside but nice and warm inside. So far so good ... but then came time to pack things up !!! In the comfort of my living room a couple of days back, everything was fine and dandy but out in the elements the tent does NOT fit into it's carry bag. My friend's two man tent has a bigger carry bag than my four man tent. He even throws in his fishing lines and a folding seat !!! I don't know what happened there but they missed the boat on the carry bag of the four man tent. Carry bag aside.....the tent works like a charm !
Yes, I recommend this product.

Dissapointed

Tried this once and returned it. Sets up reasonably easy once you figure out what to pull out. Hut is warm in the sun. I used it in -20C with a heater in and when I went to fold it up all the clear windows had cracked and shattered. It was impossible to fold up and get in the bag when cold and very heavy to carry. Nice size for 2 but not 4 guys.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Regret buying this

It seems every time i took this tent for an outing, there was something wrong with it. After using it for two seasons now i think i can give it a proper review.
I take good care of all my equipment but this thing just seems to go out of it's way to get damage.
Here is a list of all my problems.
-Zipper tab on the carrying bag broke clean off in freezing weather when i was zipping it up. Now i have to use a pair of pliers every time i want to zip it up.
-First time ever opening it up was on the ice, and when i went in, it was full of holes! pin sized holes everywhere. I can overlook that i guess.
-The carrying bag is made to fit like a glove, that means when its time to take down and store it in the bag, you gotta do it perfectly (and i mean PERFECTLY) or else you wont be able to get it in the bag. They should have added a few inches of length on the bag, would have made it easier.
-1 of the fibreglass bars splintered. Wasn't damaged when i took it out, or took it down, but next trip it was there and damaged so i take responsibility for that. had to wrap it up in duct tape but still works. few days later, i set it up for another outting and found another bar completely shattered. But still ill take responsibility for it. it didn't happen during use, it could have only happened after i stored it in my trunk.
- The windows are not tailored well, the window shades do not completely cover the window, its loose so it lets in light through the sides.
- The skirt rings where you put the anchor through tore off the seams, i never took this thing out in winds over 20km, but it still tore on 2 different corners, it looked like the metal O rings just wasn't sewed properly.
- One of the the join brackets (thats located at the middle of each wall) Poked through the wall! The seams around that spot just opened up so i had to sew it back up and reinforce it with an aftermarket ring.
On the positive note, it does set up pretty quickly.
But it wont fit 4 people, fits 2 guys comfortably, 3 if you only take in your essential gear.
But i spent more time fixing this thing up then actually fishing. Maybe i got a defective unit because everyone else seems to have no problems with it.
I really want to like this product, but issues keep arising out of nowhere. I take really good care of all my equipment and maintain them well. After taking down the hut and putting it in the bag, i store in my trunk and it fits snugly. It doesn't slide around and there isn't anything else in there that can damage it, but every time i take it out, i find a new problem.
