Avoid Stealthcams

Worked for less than a week. If you let it sit for a few days it will turn on and work for only a few hours before going dead again. You can see online how many people are having problems with stealthcams.

I don't need high res or video, though the camera has both. I just want to know what animals are around and I want a pic detailed enough to see antler tines etc. I also can't afford an overly expensive one. This P12 fits all that I need. Set up was easy and comes with a good long strap. No batteries, requires 8 AA and a memory card. I am happy with the quality. My only con is the memory card location, which is on the bottom of the unit so unless you are really short or the camera is higher than you are tall then you change the card by feel as I can't stand on my head see what I am doing.

Q: what is the battery life What is the life of the 8 AA batteries during field use. I have two Stealth cams of a different model and have only gotten three days from a new set.

A: With new batteries I normally get 10 or 12 thousand pics or better. In colder weather it is less. But I have used Bushnell units in -25 and it worked great.

Q: Trail Cam for Security I see in the description that it takes 6 pictures once triggered. The camera would take 6 pictures and I can set it up with anywhere from 5 to 59 seconds in between the pictures?

A: The camera can take up to 6 pictures "per trigger". For example, if the camera senses motion, it will take a burst of 6 pictures. Once done, the trigger resets and begins it's countdown (5-59 seconds) before the next motion detection event occurs. If something happens before the countdown completes it will not be captured.

Q: Does this have a programmable security code? Can you program a 4 digit code as you can with some Stealthcams. This prevents others from using it, making it less desirable to steal.

Q: Does it do interval shooting? Can you set the camera to take one picture every hour?

A: The STC-P12 do not have the Time Lapse capabilities. This feature is available on the RX series G series GX series and yes on those we can do a picture every 59 minutes and 59 seconds. I hope this answers your question.
