    My dream level

I had a tiny one for years. When I got this one I was very happy. Hard to make mistakes with this as it's either balanced or not-easy.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Great Level for the Price

I picked up Stanley’s 24 and 48” FatMax Extreme levels when they came on sale at CT some months back. I’ve found the 48" level to be the most useful as a general purpose level. It's practical for most framing and trim jobs and convenient to carry around the job site. The box beam frame design is extremely rigid and durable. On one edge of the level are rare earth magnets that enable you to attach the level to any metal surface. These magnets provide very good holding power, so there really is no danger of the level falling, unless it's inadvertently knocked. The magnets are recessed just a hair's breath below the surface. There are three spirit vials on the level - a center vial and two vertical vials on one ends. The middle vial is bright and easy to read. While acrylic vials can't be replaced, they are virtually unbreakable, and they won't leak. I wish Stanley had a put a continuous edge on either side of the center vial, which not only serves to protect the vial, but provides a continuous edge when you want to scribe a long continuous line with pencil or utility knife. The center vial can also be viewed from the side of the level. The vertical vial is slightly larger than the center vial and equally easy to read. On both ends of the level you'll find rubber end caps, that provide some shock-absorption if you drop the level on an end. The caps are slightly wider than the level, so you can’t scribe a continuous line for the entire length of the level. There are also rubber pads on each end of the level (though only on one side of the level) that keep the level from slipping when you lay it on a surface. There are through holes, lined with aluminum, that enable you to hang the level from a nail. The two large (1" x 4-3/8") handles are cushioned, but they are too narrow to use when wearing work gloves

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Best Level Yet

This level is very well built.... durable, solid, and well thought out... handle holes make it very east to hold on to, and the vials are large and easy to read from a distance... only flaw might be the rubber bumper caps, although nice for short drops or bumps, they are not the same size as the beam itself so makes using it to mark lines harder... Over all tho a very nice level!!! I would recommend buying a case for it however as it is quite expensive and shouldn't be left to bounce around a truck bed....

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Rare earth magnets? This levels's description in your web site says it has rare earth magnet, this would allow the level to stick to ferromagnetic materials, could you confirm that is the case please?

    1 Answer
    • A: Yes, our rare earth magnets will stick on ferromagnetic materials, specifically materials like iron and materials that contain iron, such as steel.
