Good idea, poorly executed

I have bought three of these in the hope of finding a reliable one that had somehow escaped the factory. The concept is extremely valid: make "do nothing" the locking mode. As with everyone else, the locking mechanisms ALL soon failed. Very disappointing for a Stanley tool. I guess things go straight to Manufacture these days, bypassing the Test phase.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I had an older version of this which soon failed to stay out. A contractor came to my place with this newer version and he said he liked it so I bought two myself for my home. BOTH have failed the same way within a year. These are not worth the money at any price!

It didn't retract fast after a while but worked while it lasted. Can't really complain for the price I would recommend this to any one that isn't going to use it every day.

This one was a let down. The little red button used to lock, broke on the second day on the job. Being from stanley I thought it would fair a bit better.
