Okay for some purposes

This product is made with a super fine mesh and would be okay for straining a very thin broth perhaps. I was trying to strain a thicker liquid - homemade tomato soup blended with an immersion blender - and barely anything went through the mesh. I tried to use the back of a spoon to encourage the straining process and it felt like wouldn't take too much effort to damage the screen. It was also very hard to clean afterwards due to bits sticking in the mesh. I think it would work for rinsing veggies or, as I mentioned before, straining a very thin liquid, but it was not suitable for my purpose.

Q: Depending on the dimensions, could this be used as a fry basket? If I were to place this into a large pot on the stove, could I use this to store french fries or hashbrowns to stove top fry?

A: Product #042-3241 Stainless Steel Mesh Colander cannot be used as a fry basket. But can be used for cleaning. Product #042-1408 can be used as a fry basket.
