I bought 4 for use at our ranch. Had the LTE cameras without solar panel before. Uses lot of power to transmit photos, as do all cell cameras no matter the maker. Hoped that the solar would cut down on battery change outs. So far it has worked fine. Depends on how many photos you send each month on how long the batteries will last without a AC charge. At this point I am glad I went with these and will see how they continue to last into the season.

Q: Can this camera work locally without a cellular signal or plan?

A: You program it through a app and it has optimal and fast as an option. It also has delay from 10 seconds to 3 minutes and you can set it to multishot and set a sensitivity level. Spypoint gives you 100 pics per month for free after that you have to pay to get any more

Q: What is the price of cellular plans for this unit and what companies have them. Are the pictures real time on your phone?

A: Plan prices are outlined on the Spypoint website. You can subscribe on a monthly basis. We used for two months around the hunting season and then cancelled. The pictures are very close to real time, we experienced maybe a two minute delay.

Q: Can the solar panel be removed to mount higher up to catch sun in a heavily forested area? If so how long is the cable?
