The Smart Screen is made sturdy and fits fairly well except for the front edge as it is rounded rather than square. The fact that they come with fastening screws is very helpful. However, there are potential fitment issues where the eaves are at their highest point (at the beginning of the slope downward to the drain) since this is typically a tighter spot. The only way to fit these in the tighter spaces is to cut them, requiring metal shears.

A: pine needles do not wash out of gutters with the rain water. im pretty sure id be cleaning eaves troughs with or without this product, and the price. lol

A: A big scissors can cut off the metal easily. Cut two PCs and nail them to form a 90 degree angle. Basically no need to wind the passage, just used to cover the surface horizontally.

A: Sorry but if you have a drip edge on your house and the eaves trough is just under your shingles this product will not fit the 4" gutters. If your gutters are low enough they probably will fit but on mine they will NOT!

A: 5 pieces, 4 ft each, but they need to overlap. I bought five boxes to cover two straight 50' runs and had to make a second trip to the store for a sixth box.

A: Your gutters might be clean, but the leaves are probably laying on top of the gutter screens. It is much easier to clean the top off than the gutters themselves. The only other thing I have seen was that the gutters were not cleaned before the screens were installed. Just have a look & see.

A: Installed yesterday on metal roof and biggest problem was the metal strip below the shingles that was too deep to put the guard underneath and the metal strip would move inward as I tried to put screws in . Got around the garage roof done, not exactly pretty from above but looks ok from the ground time will tell how good it works.

Q: Does the back of the smart screen go in front or behind the existing drip guard???

A: Behind. There should be nothing pinning (nailing, stapling etc.) the drip guard to the fascia. If the facer is properly installed (aluminum sheathing + roof drip guard), there should be a place to tuck the back of the gutter guard up in front of the aluminum sheathing of the facer board, and behind the downward part of the roof drip guard.
