Smart Scoop Self Scooping Litter Box

I have had this little box for 5 years and our 5 cats love this unit. Very disappointed that I can't repurchase a new unit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have owned this model for over 3 years with 2 years of 2 cats using it. The motor finally got too weak to push thru the box, so we are buying another one. Hopefully it works as long as our first. Also do not overfill the box with litter, fill to the marked lines. Pro’s: Quiet Easy to use and set up Works as advertised No odor Con’s Does get stuck on occasion but easy to reset Waste container on the small side All in all, a decent product for the price!

J'ai deux chats chez moi et l'idée de jouer dans une litière à tou les jours m'horripilait. Nous avons donc opté pour une litière qui se nettoyait automatiquement. Smartscoop nous a sembler le meilleur rapport qualité/prix. Après plusieurs semaine nous étions très satisfait. Un vrai charme. Presque pas d'odeur, changer le sac sans toucher à la litière, nettoyage complet facile car toute les pièces peuvent ce démontées facilement, que du positif. Au bout d'un an, après que la garantie sois échue, le moteur brisa. Une petite pièce en plastique dans le mécanisme qui a brisé. Comme nous étions accro à notre litière automatique nous en avons acheter un autre sans hésiter. Même scénario, au bout d'un peu plus d'un an, le mécanisme brisa. La troisième que nous avons acheté, avait toutefois une petite amélioration sur la fameuse pièce qui brisait. Le fabriquant l'avait fait en métal. Malheureusement au bout d'un peu plus qu'un an, une autre pièce en plastique du mécanisme nous laissa tomber. Malgré les trois expériences que nous avons eu nous avons choisi d'en acheter une quatrième! En l'assemblant, nous avons remarqué quelques modifications à la grille. Probablement une amélioration... Non. Cette dernière est plus courte et laisse donc une croute de litière aggloméré dans le fond du bac, en plus de ne pas aller complètement sur le bord, et parfois de faire tomber les excréments a coté de la litière au lieu de les envoyé dans le sac. Notre solution: mettre juste un peu plus de litière qu'avant, question que la litière s'agglomère avant d'arrivé dans le fond, mais rien d'excessif, ca reste un petit moteur avec un mécanisme de pièce en plastique. Bref, ca n'a pas prit 4 mois que le mécanisme du moteur brisa encore. Très déçus. nous aimions vraiment ce produit, mais malgré les "améliorations" du fabriquant nous allons changer de litière. Ce n'est pas un produits qui nous convient s'il brise aussi facilement et régulièrement. À ce prix-là je m'attendais à un peu mieux.

I bought this a month ago. So far it has been working fine. The motor is quiet. The only complaint i have is that i can not get a privacy cover for it. When I had the Litter Mate, i purchased a cover for it. My kitty is accustomed to having his private potty time. I had to build one since the other cover does not fit. I am hoping they come out with a privacy hood for this litter box.

I bought one of these boxes after a severe disappointment from the other big brand. This box was much easier to put together and it seems like it will be much easier to clean since it's a normal sized box with a motorized attachment instead of a tray with a huge attachment on top. I also like that the bags in the waste tray are replaceable - much easier cleanup and I can probably use shopping bags instead of the SmartScoop ones to save cash. This box is also much quieter than the LM. I have a tiny townhouse and this box is in the downstairs bathroom, which is in the middle of the house. When the LM ran, you heard it no matter where you were in my house. With the SmartScoop, it's a lighter noise. Sometimes I am aware of it, but other times I don't notice it until the cats run over to watch it work. Note that the litter you use is key. I tried Swheatscoop (my preferred brand) and World's Best before I finally decided to roll with LM's litter (corn cob formula). Be sure to buy fast clumping litter, whatever you choose. Couple minor complaints so far. The motor went a little too far back on one of its runs and I came home to a red blinking light. This was easily rectified by turning it off, unlocking the motor, moving it forward into position, locking it again, then turning it back on. Worked fine! Not sure what caused the issue. Also, if your cat likes to do his or her business on the side of the box, this might not work for you. There is a tiny gap between the scooper and the side of the box, and my one cat likes to do her business down the side of the box so her stuff doesn't always get picked up. There will be little baby clumps there that are too small to get picked up. Overall, I bought a second one for upstairs (my cats are spoiled) so I guess that tells you how much I like it. We'll see if it lasts a year!
