Crucial Piece Fails

I bought one of these and the threads to lock in the height adjustment stripped. I bought another one hoping I just turned it that little bit too much and even though I only tightened the next one enough to not slip under a slight (much less than the rated 130lb) load, it stripped too. I was able to use each of these only a couple times before they stripped and now have been using them with clamps to hold them in position. I'll probably try welding a bit to the upright to make them useable again because otherwise they worked great... Too bad the failed part is the most crucial!

Currently selling a bad batch

Other reviews are old. I bought 4 today. They are not fit for purpose and do not work as they are not machined properly or there is a design flaw. Specifically, the adjustment lever needs to go through 2 pieces of steel to press against the roller rod to secure it, but the inner steel didn't have a hole for the adjustment lever, making it impossible to secure. I kept them, but only because I drilled and tapped a new hole for the adjustment lever to screw through. This fixed the problem, but it's not optimal as I had to use a cordless drill and probably stripped a bit of the threading (my drill press isn't large enough to accommodate my drill press vice). I saw in one that even after retapping it, there was still a thin thread on one side. So... I'm not counting on it to be super secure or tight. I wouldn't recommend buying this unless you can fix the problem. Since other reviewers are happy with it, I assume that the batch I got were simply bad and never should have been shipped to the stores.
