Thought I'd save some money and learn how to sew in one with this model. Managed to hem a shirt, a skirt, and do some minor mends on chiffon and cotton. I was impressed at it's capacity - it stitched through many layers of cotton on the seams of the shirt, though it has it's limits, I was too wary to try denim. It's loud, but when it works, it does a pretty good job. When it works.
After replacing the bobbin once, it seemed to jam up, but then kept stitching. After changing it again, stitches won't form, the bobbin won't turn. I've heard a lot said about this machine breaking down but figured I'd give it a shot for the money, and I'm now considering refunding this for a better model. Even if you're looking to experiment or teach your kids, I'd recommend a better built machine (something everyone can use, not just beginners) for a little more money. This one will waste you hours in trying to fix things and getting a refund - you might spend more time on that than actually sewing.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: What kind of light does this machine have? Does this sewing machine have a real light, or one of those little blue LED things that doesn't show any light.

A: The light is a small white 3mm LED. It doesn't throw a lot of light but at night it's welcome. (Also this machine breaks really easily, an upgrade will probably save you a lot of time in the long run.)

A: Yes, the Quick Fix is easy to use, however, in my opinion, an adult would have to assist, and be with a person of that age, for understanding of threading, machine stitch set up, and "caution" of placing fingers in the sewing needle area. Ideally, this is more suited to a 16+ aged person.

Q: No info in book re care/oil machine I have tried to add more onto my review but seems it will not let me add more. No info on oiling of machine,tension problems (dial on backwards?)
