I burnt to a crisp under this "sun shade"

I got quite sunburnt when sitting under this sun shade. And I'm in Canada, where the sun isn't even strong compared to down south. My only sun exposure was from the light filtering through the Shelterlogic Shade Sail. I was never exposed to direct sun. And I am now burnt to a crisp. If you're hoping to use this product to protect you from the sun, please don't trust it - wear sun screen instead. Or, buy a better product than this one.

We have 2 shade sails, the 16’ and the 12’ triangles over our back deck in Florida. They have held up well in the punishing sun, rain and wind. Just now replaced the 16’ that’s been in place for 14 years!
