Adequate but certainly not quality

This item was good considering the price. It was by far the cheapest bookshelf I could find but seems to be able to hold itself together. It has a mild odour, as most particle board construction tends to have, and I wouldn't overload this bookshelf with lots of heavy text books but for the price it's decent.

Q: Can this unit stand by itself or it must be fixed to the wall? Your sales person said it cannot stand by itself. It has to be attached to a wall with nuts & bolts. I don't want to do that. I want to put two of these units back-to-back. It is not unusually tall or slim, why can't it stand by itself?

A: The Sauder 3-Shelf Oak Bookcase was designed to stand by itself. The bookcase does not need to be attached to a wall.

Q: Both sides finished? A previous customer review said one side is unfinished so it must go against a wall. Is that true? Or are both sides finished? I want to have this in a location where the sides will be visible. Thanks.

Q: Dimension of Bookcase please "Sauder 3-Shelf Oak Bookcase, Product #68-1347-0, Dimensions: 24 1/2 x 11 1/2 x 35.25". It is not clear what is H, W, or D. From the picture, I have to assume that W is 24 1/2, D is 11 1/2, and H is 35.25.
