Safer's® Trounce® Yard & Garden Insecticide combines pyrethrins and potassium salts of fatty acids to kill insects on contact. The pyrethrins attack the insect's nervous system and potassium salts weaken the insect's protective outer shell. Seems to work well for bugs

I got this because my roses and pepperoncini were being eaten by some sort of bug. It seems to have had the desired effect overnight which was to stop them. If I understand the ingredients correctly, it isn't too harmful to my dogs either. Both seem fine. I would buy this again.

Wiped Out Those Nasty Japanese Lily Beetles

My many lily plants in my gardens became totally overrun with small bright red Japanese Lily Beetles. They were consuming both the foliage and the flowers at an incredible rate. An online search for a quick and effective remedy yielded this product as a highly effective minimally intrusive solution. While I am a senior and well remember the old days, I am very cautious in my use of pesticides. Trounce met my standards of trust and worked completely after timed applications.

Insecticide Not Good for Japanese Beetles.

This did not deter the Japanese Beetles from my rose bushes. It was recommended by the sales person at Canadian Tire. It also turned all the leaves on the rose bushes brown.

A: Quick answer is, yes it will kill fungus gnats. Trounce is an insecticidal soap but also has a very small amount of pyrethrins in it which is an insecticide good against insects that could be resistant to insecticidal soaps. The pyrethrins found in this product is the more effective part of it against insects in general, but insecticidal soaps can be just as good if you are persistent in using them over a period of a few weeks, depending on the degree of infestation. I recommend using this once every couple of days for a period of a couple of weeks, longer if you see gnats still surviving. Although not toxic to pets, if you have them try not to have them around when spraying your plants and please don't spray them (accidentally or otherwise) with this product as it may cause eye and/or skin irritations. I also recommend wearing gloves when using this spray so it does not cause potential skin irritations.
