Worked amazingly well and was able to top it off with a coat of the finish to help preserve it for another year hopefully.

Questions

1 - 10 of 14 Questions

Q: Can I use it as a primer then over paint it with base coat and clear coat?

2 Answers
  • A: The short answer is that it's not recommended. An epoxy primer or rust encapsulating primer is the best way to start a refinish project. You can paint over Rust Check rust paint with a base clear system but the chances for wrinkling and lifting are extremely high. At the very lest you should have a sealer between the two.

Q: My truck has surface and scale rust. The scale rust will need some Bondo. Can I use this product as an ani-rust (not just cover rusting, but stop rusting) for the first coat then apply Bondo, and then apply a rust paint in a colour that matches my truck?

1 Answer
  • A: My experience is if it says paint that means covering. You should try a can of Dupli-Color® Rust Barrier Rust Preventive Coating.

Q: Hi I have a darkblue 2002 Ford Focus dark blue with a bunch of rust spots on the side skirts, fenders and hood. I am thinking of using this product on the hood before wrapping it with vinyl. My question is if it’s ok for me to use it before I wrap my hood

1 Answer
  • A: It’s ok to use it but to make sure it’s completely dried before wrapping it. Normal condition this kind of paint will take up to 7 days to completely cured/dried.

Q: How long does the paint take to set before I can drive in the winter? I have a heated garage but it's already -15c here in the north so I just need to know how long it takes to set/cure before I can drive in the cold?

1 Answer
  • A: For best results use between temperatures of 18 to 30C (between 64 to 86F). Since you will spray it in a heated garage this will be the right temperature to spray the paint but ensure it is in a well-ventilated area. For one coat wait at least 30 minutes before applying a second coat within 1 hour of initial coat until your satisfaction. For Air dry: Set to touch = 4 to 5 minutes Tack Free = 20 to 60 minutes Set to dry = 16 to 24 hrs. Hard Dry = between 48 to 72 hours

Q: Corrosive Dots on Car body Hey I have Pearl White Venza. And it has little corrosive dots on bonnet.. Can i use White color of your product on that dots.

1 Answer
  • A: No – this paint should not be used on a Pearl White car. The gloss could potentially adversely affect the hue of the pearlescent white on the vehicle. This paint is not recommended for the application of the corrosive dots.
