Ruger blackhawk
I bought this gun cause my cousins and I go away to a cottage every year. They r avid hunters I am not. I thought we could all enjoy some back porch fun. After only a few minutes of sighting the scope in. All by my self. The gun and the scope were as accurate as all of my cousins air rifles. Some of them much more expensive than mine. Even my young daughter loved shooting the targets. It could sink pellets into a 2x10 about 1/2-3/4 inch at 35-40yards. Can't see an issue here. Very happy at the price I paid.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Good for paper only
It's not worth the price and not good for anything other than punching paper at 10 yards. The scope is not of quality where you can dial it in. The power of 490 feet per second won't take down any type of pigeon or skunk etc. I noticed it was fairly accurate at about 8 yards but if you backed up to 18 yards the pellet really began to drop. The pellets at 18 yards barely made it through a cardboard box and that's only two pieces of cardboard!
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Varmint hunting
Can you hunt racoon or fox with this gun
3 Answers
A: No, any air gun that shoot 500 fps [ the max fps u can get in Canada ] will only wound anything bigger than a mouse at 10 feet , like the first answer said it would be inhumane to hunt with this type of weapon you will probably hit your target but it will run away and die slowly after suffering for hours or days !

Q: hunting
is this good small game say rabbits squirrels maybe even racoon or fox at close range say 30 feet head shots
13 years ago
3 Answers
A: No. It would be unethical to hunt racoon or fox with this particular air rifle. You would only hurt the animal, causing it undue suffering. If you want to hunt raccoon or fox your should obtain the proper training and permits. All the animals you've list have perscribed hunting seasons. Contact your local Department of Natural Resources for more information about hunting regulations in your area.

A: Personally, I would recommend a .22 air rifle for small game.
If using a .177...you need to go for a head shot, for all but the tiniest mouse, is you want to keep it humane as possible.
Blame Canada's weird 500 ft/per/sec rule for the suffering of many small varmints.

Q: What is the fps on this rifle? And what's better for small game, this or the beeman 1048?

A: I believe you're looking at 490FPS on this rifle, though keep in mind that the company's that make these things ALWAYS overestimate that number (the use very light pellets and do some funky calculations in order to make their product seem better than it is#. You can usually count on about 5-10% less than what is advertised.
I like this rifle for pesting #so anything up to and include gray squirrels). If you're looking at something for larger, get a PAL... it's just not humane. You might kill the occasional animal, but you'll wound far more than you'll kill.

Q: hunting
hi i hunt with bow but dont have p.a.l yet can air rifles under 500fps be used for hunting in ontario if so what game can i take and best pellets for job thanks

A: So far as I know you can certainly hunt with an air rifle. You must posess a valid small game license though, so you might as well take the One Step hunting course and get the PAL along with your hunting license anyway...
For pesting (i.e. removing animals causing damage to your property) you are within your rights to use lethal force on them provided it is your own home or you are acting as an agent for the homeowner. Check the local regulations though... most people don't take kindly to plinking squirrels in your backyard where they can see you doing it. LOL!

Q: What is the difference between this gun and the ruger airhawk
12 years ago
1 Answer
A: The main difference between the two rifles is that the Airhawk has a wood stock and the Blackhawk has a synthetic black stock. A different stock will provide a different look, style and feel. All other features and benefits to each of the rifles do not differ.
