Wanted to like it! Only good for small cuts

For small cuts through 1/4" hardwood, thin aluminium, and pine 2x4s it was fine. had some wander but I just assumed that was my fault and cut extra carefully/pushed it into the fence harder. Ripping a 3/4 inch sheet of plywood was another story I tried everything! A jig to guide the saw, cleaning the blade, buying a carbide tipped 40 tooth blade (which was very difficult to find), various fences, etc but nothing got decent results. The blade (any blade!) heats up ridiculously within 2 feet and starts to burn the wood and bind. Cue 10 min of waiting for the blade and now the motor to cool. I suspect there may have been an alignment problem too or something else going on because it also took FAR too much effort to push it through. So yes. Fine for small jobs where inaccuracy doesn't matter. Want to do straight, long cuts? Buy something else

EASY HANDLING

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I AM 67 YEAR OLD FEMALE WITH ARTHRITIS IN MY HANDS AND THE ROCKWELL COMPACT CIRCULAR SAW IS SO EASY TO USE. I WAS AFRAID I WOULD HAVE TO GIVE UP DOING PROJECTS AROUND THE HOUSE. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS LITTLE BEAUTY.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Excellent Performance

Bought this on Saturday as i wanted a more compact saw to cut out a few engineered hardwood flooring boards. Last week i used my 7" circ saw and covered my kitchen in sawdust. On this saw i used the vac attachment and it worked beautifully. No mess, quiet saw, cut with extreme ease, more versatile given the size, and had plenty of power. the safety button wasnt too bad as you press it once to start the saw.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Thumb safety make is unusable

The thumb safety makes this saw nearly impossible to use. My hand barely wraps around far enough to push it. I don't think any women would be able to use this with one hand. This feature actually makes the product less safe because you can't handle it correctly. I think it would be an excellent saw if this was removed. It is very light weight and compact.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Can it be used to cut through concrete, and if so, what blade should be used?

1 Answer
  • A: It would be possible to use the compact Circular saw for cutting small concrete jobs. What would be recommended for larger jobs would be a dedicated masonry saw. Rockwell does not have a blade specifically for concrete but, there are a number of them listed in this size on the internet. One would just need to be sure the arbor size is the correct 3/8 inch diameter.
