Road Grip TSMI Aluminum Tire Studs, #11

$85.99

Product Details

These aluminium tire studs give extra grip on icy roads, helping drivers stop sooner, accelerate quicker and maintain control when cornering. Tire studs have an outer jacket of either steel or aluminium and a tungsten carbide tip that provides traction. The tip protrudes about 1 millimetre from the stud. New winter tires often have pre-drilled holes for studs. Studding previously used tires is less effective as the holes can be blocked with dirt. Passenger tires can accept 80 to 120 studs depending on size. Larger truck tires require more. In North America, studs are sized by TSMI number. Passenger and light truck tires use TSMI 11 to 17 studs. The tire sidewall may indicate the correct TSMI size, otherwise the service centre measures the hole depth to match the stud length.

Q: how do you install these ? do you need a special tool?

    1 Answer
    • A: We strongly recommend having tire studs installed by a technician at your local Canadian Tire to ensure proper installation. However, the TSIT-9 Tire Stud Insertion Tool is required and typically a K-5 studding stand which are both available through the CS21 account. https://brunowessel.com/studding-equipment/.
