Product Details

RED TEK Dry12 A/C Dehydration Treatment is specially formulated to eliminate damaging moisture that is found in systems, especially systems with leaks. RED TEK Dry12 A/C Dehydration Treatment is recommended for use in systems when using RED TEK ProSeal A/C Leak Repair or prior to charging a system after changing a component or A/C lines.

  • Moisture can contaminate an A/C system

  • For all mobile A/C systems including: R12, R134a, R1234YF, RED TEK 12a & RED TEK 1234yf

  • Requires the RED TEK Additive Can Adapter (#513 –0147934 sold separately) for use with RED TEK 1234yf recharge gauge kit

  • Contains 2oz of RED TEK refrigerant

Q: Installing this before red tek 12a (moisture in lines) Would it be acceptable to run the dry additive before adding any 12a into the system since the can contains 2 ounces of 12a? Thanks!

    1 Answer
    • A: - 12a should be added to the system first only if the A/C compressor is not running. If the A/C compressor is running, it is advised that you determine if there are leaks in the system, then run the Leak Stop to condition the seals in the system, ProSeal to seal leaks, oil charge to get the system lubricated, and then dry12 to remove excess moisture. If you put Dry12 into the system before closing up any leaks, you allow more moisture in the system.

Q: When should one apply this treament in relation to other Red Tek treatments? The purpose of this treatment is to avoid buying a vacuum pump to remove moisture. When should it be applied?

    • A: A RedTek representative answered my question this morning. On Wed, Jun 7, 2017 at 12:21 PM, Sam Guest Tremendous thanks! Thank you for your honesty. If you don't mind, I'll be sharing this information on the Canadian Tire website to answer my own questions there. On Wed, Jun 7, 2017 at 12:08 PM, Info Account <info@redtek.com> wrote: Unless your system has been opened to allow a lot of moisture in, there is probably no reason to install the Dry12. From: Sam Guest Sent: Wednesday, June 07, 2017 12:03 PM Very good. And thus, is it advisable one purchases a can of RedTek Dry and apply it before all other treatments (or at which step in the sequence(?) i.e. after applying LeakStop and ProSeal), or is ProDry unnecessary? ;) On Wed, Jun 7, 2017 at 11:38 AM, Info Account <info@redtek.com> wrote: Hi Sam, You do not need to get a vacuum pump! And, just so you are aware, REDTEK ProSeal12 will not gum up your system. Our formula does not crystalize. From: Sam Guest Sent: Wednesday, June 07, 2017 11:29 AM Very good. And if my A/C lines are completely empty and I don't own a vacuum pump (or should I definitely buy one lol?), then I should definitely add the RedTek Dry before the RedTek ProSeal as from my understanding, the RedTek ProSeal causes moisture to turn into a sticky paste (and if there's atmospheric humidity in the system then this could gum up the parts). Thank you, -Sam

Q: Since I will be charging my system by weight, how much refrigerant is in the 4 oz can?

    1 Answer
    • A: There is about 2oz in the additive cans. But the customer must use a can of r12a before using the additives to get the compressor going.
