Easy installation on my rototiller, just took off old one and it lined up perfectly. Easy to start, (first pull), set your own speed, powerful enough to get the job done. Would recommend to others.

Canadian tire, 4 stroke 212cc 7hp gas engine. Rato

Great little engine, a good deal at the regular price and on sale. The Rato is a clone of a brand name 4 stroke that is ubiquitous in the small engine market. It is made by Rato Power in Chongqing china. I bought mine to install on my Canadian Tire Doddle Bug mini bike. Observations made while prepping this motor for mini bike use were the excellent quality of the casting and machining of the parts. All fasteners were properly torqued, The valves were set perfectly, the guides have positive seals and the retainers are automotive style and use split keepers. The intake valve is a larger 27mm, Many high performance parts not seen on the competitors’ machines! For me this motor makes outstanding power, the Rato is an excellent performer and achieves its rated 7hp if not more. I highly recommend the Rato for any application.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Excellent Engines

I purchased 12 of these engines for my mechanics class. So far we have opened 6 of the boxes, taken the engines completely apart, put them back together, and started them without any trouble. The Rato engine is superior to the Briggs as far as I am concerned. The Rato has less parts and some internal components like the cam shaft are much better designed and will last longer. I cannot speak to the longevity since we don't run them for very long, but I suspect they will last for years with regular maintenance.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Does this Engine have a Low Oil Sensor Installed? I suspect not as I do not see any wiring heading into the side of the crankcase where a low oil sensor would be housed (inside the crankcase of course). I actually prefer them without this sensor. Thanks.

  • A: No, with its positive valve seals and a proper break-in this should be a very low oil consuption engine, not something to worry about
