It is designed to suit bikes with 26" - 28" wheels (or 700C), and has a highly stable load capacity of 265 lb (120 kg). The bike trainer is incredibly easy to set up, and is also foldable for easy storage. Perfect for snowy or rainy days, you can take your ride indoors with the Raleigh Bike Trainer.

Q: can you set it up with a 12 speed bike (old)?

A: I have this trainer on a 20 year old mountain bike and it works great. - I see no reason why it would not work on a 12 speed. - It clamps onto the rear axle and there is a front wheel support pad to ensure the bike is level.

A: Carpet is fine. Mine is set up in a carpeted room throughout the winter. No issues.
