I've been using this model for years. It does a great job for an entire year (possibly longer). Price goes up every year but performance never changes.

Same filter make and model I had purchased in the past but is was different

Although the same company and model number this filter leaked when I tried to use it. I had purchased this filter type and model number at Canadian Tire in the past and it worked great. This filter was “built” differently. Canadian Tire provided a refund.

Q: Wil it fit on 1/4 inch copper pipe ?

A: Yes, the Rainfresh IM200 external fridge filter is designed for 1/4" OD tubing (copper or Polyethylene). Cut the 1/4" copper tube and simply insert & push the tube into the two ends of the filter. You just have to make sure that you cut the copper tube straight without any burrs. Get 1000 gal (3785 litres) of clean, filtered water from your fridge.

Q: Is there a Rainfresh filter that will remove Iron from the water?

A: 62-1027 - Iron can be either dissolved in the water (ferrous iron, that causes reddish brown stains) or as particles (ferric iron or simply rust). All Rainfresh sediment filters remove rust from the water but cannot remove ferrous iron because of its dissolved state. To remove dissolved iron, a specific iron reduction filter system has to be installed that converts the dissolved iron to rust and then filters it out. Q: Generic Model? Will this water filter work on any fridge or is it specific to a fridge model? Will it work on Whirlpool fridges?

A: It will work on any fridge. You will need a water filter kit which is not included. You need a pipe tap and plastic water tubing. Somewhere in between the pipe you tap into and the fridge you cut the line and insert the filter. You want the filter somewhere near the shut off so when you change it you can shut off the water.
