Q: Does the valve of this slowly close or abruptly? My previous timer destroyed our faucet through water hammering because of the pressure.

A: We have not noticed any hammering, however, our water pressure is quite low. The sprinklers that we have the timers set up on do seem to shut off quickly. But so far, this is the best timer that we have ever had.

Q: How high of water pressure can this controller handle when in the off position for periods of time? I’m wanting to purchase two. And set them up for 16 heads per zone. Our city pressure is around 45-50 psi

Therefore, with your city's water pressure of approximately 45-50 psi, the timer should function properly, even during extended periods in the "off" position. Regarding your plan to set up 16 sprinkler heads per zone, it's important to note that the timer has a flow range of 5 to 12 gallons per minute (GPM). This flow rate typically supports the operation of up to five impact sprinklers, depending on water pressure. Attempting to run 16 heads simultaneously may exceed the timer's capacity, leading to insufficient water distribution and suboptimal performance. To ensure efficient watering, consider dividing your sprinkler heads into smaller zones that align with the timer's flow rate specifications.

Q: If you turn the knob to off, does it allow water through it? Or would I need to leave it on Auto and press the Manual watering button in order to use my hose for filling my pool, for example?

A: If you turn the knob to off, it will not allow the valve to open. If you have the knob in auto, you can set the timer to run for a specific time, or you can operate it manually by pressing the water now button.

Q: i used the Rain Bird Electranic unit last summer - it worked fine. i tried now and nothing is indicated - it does not work - I brought the unit inside last fall and i tried replacing the batteries - nothing works. Anything else i can do to make it work

A: The only thing I can think of is batteries may need replacing. I have had several of these timers for 3 years & they are still working fine.

Q: when I installed it I hooked up a regular water sprinkler to the end of the hose .I had lots of water pressure to run the sprinkler b4 but since I added the timer the sprinkler doesn't seem to be getting enough water to run. Please help!!

A: You may be experiencing a flow loss through the hose so please connect the timer to the hose bib, and make sure the faucet is fully opened. Hope this helps!

Q: May be a silly question but how water/weather proof are these? I have bought timers in the past that let water in and ruined the circuit board.

A: The timer is designed to operate in outdoor weather conditions. Please remember to remove the timer from the hose bib at the end of the season and store in an environment that does not freeze. If you follow this procedure, your timer should perform well for many years. Hope this helps!
