Faulty construction!

Does NOT self-light! Had bought this to replace an older one that I had, and since this one wouldn't work, I used the old one and it did the job. I returned this torch to the store and was told I could only get a store credit. I've been a Canadian Tire fan because it's Canadian, but after this issue returning a defective product and only getting a store credit when clearly the problem is with the product, I'll take my business elsewhere.

Q: Can this product work with MAPP gas?

A: Actually a question! So, this torch top can be used with Map Pro, right, though not recommended. If I'm only going to have it lit for about 45 seconds or less per use, It sounds like it will be ok until I can find regular propane. Right?

Q: What causes the spark to ignite the flame inside the torch?

Q: Can this be attached to a standard propane bbq cylinder? And if so does canadian tire carry a hose connector to do such a thing?

A: The MasterCraft swivel torch can be used in unison with the 4 foot long GHA-048 hose which has a type one connection on one end that will fit your 20 Lb. cylinder and a CGA600 connection on the other end that will fit your torch. However, this hose is not currently carried in Canadian Tire stores.
