I've tried this for two months now to see if it would let me use our tap water, purchased in store rather than online, but didn't notice any great impact. If anything it just made the air smell strange, almost sour. Still noticed some brown spotting and mildew building up on the humidifier wick only a couple of weeks in so it doesn't seem to be doing anything useful. I was changing the water daily, doing weekly cleaning, but it still made the room smell strange. When I took the cartridge out and rinsed out the wick and just used straight water it went back to smelling fine.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Does this product act as a demineralizer also? The warm mist humidifier we purchased this winter needs to be cleaned twice a week because of scale buildup that makes the unit turn itself off.

Keeps your mist fresh and clean. This technology has been used for years in the food and drinking water industry to prevent odor-causing bacteria.
