Christmas Gift Hit
I purchased this as a gift for my daughter last year for Christmas. It was installed at a reasonable cost and definitely made her life last winter much easier. I couldn't live without a remote starter in my car! Nothing better than going out in the cold to a nice warm car that already has the windows defrosted!
Yes, I recommend this product.

Glad I bought this

Really nice to get into a warm car in the winter. I keep an extra batter(AAA) in my wallet because one time it died and I was stuck not being able to get into the car without the alarm going off. Small price to pay for heat, convenience and safety.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Poor quality

I bought this for my wife's car last year and really regretted doing so, it is very fragile, sometimes you will have to press the button multiple for it to respond, as we speak I have tape wrapped around it to keep it together because the back is where the battery is is always falling off..
No, I do not recommend this product.

I've had this for about two years. When I had it installed at a car audio/electronic store, he told me he had un-installed many of these. I thought he was trying to up-sell me, but now I realize he wasn't. It's not been all bad, but it is not a reliable starter.
A handful of times, the alarm has just started going off for no reason. Other times, pressing the 'Start' button has made the alarm go off.
Now when I press the 'Start' button, the lights flash 10 times and the car does not start. The user manual tells me "Hood wire is active" and gives no other information.
If I had to do it again, I'd get a dealer-authorized starter, or at least one from the car audio/electronic store (which they fully support).
No, I do not recommend this product.

Really sorry to hear this. A remote starter is as good as how the installation is performed. As per the 10 parking lights flash, this would mean that the GRAY wire (Hood pin input) is grounded and preventing the remote starter to start your car. This wire is hooked up to the Hood pin switch that should be installed in your Hood compartment. This switch is to prevent the car from Remote Starting when the Hood is open for security reasons.

Q: Remote starter will not start car at around -20c and below.
2006 KIA Spectra5. It works great except when I need it most (below -20c). Is there an adjustment that can be made? It looks like it does not allow the starter to turn the engine long enough for it to start.

A: I don't believe so because after it fails to start with the remote I go and start it with the key and it starts fine.

A: If you press the lock button and wait a few seconds it should beep and the timer will appear to show that the car was started. I have the same issue sometimes with mine

Q: Hi, I purchased a ProStart 3 in 1 car starter. I was wanting to know if it will work on a 2007 Toyota Tundra Limited Edition vehicle?
Also will there be any other parts that I need to purchase and who can I purchase them from? If I decided to take it to Canadian Tire to get this installed how long will it take and what is the cost?
Thanks

A: Yes it will work. and you may need a bypass module for it to work. You need the bypass if you have a chip in your key that communicates with the ignition.

Q: I bought the ct-3471 tw, I just want the car starter, do I need to connect the 12 pins? Also the Green wire on the 6 pins, does it have to be connected
15 years ago
2 Answers
A: It is possible to connect this piece as a remote starter only with a few modifications to the programming.
The 12 pin harness controls all the optional outputs from the remote starter/alarm. Depending on the vehicle you may need some wires from the 12 pin harness.
The green wire on the 6 pin controls a relay that can be programmed to ignition, accessory, or start. this wire may be required depending on the vehicle.

A: If you have it installed by Canadian Tire they sell the boxes. I am having it out into a Landrover Freelander today, and a VW Jetta next week.
