    DO NOT BUY

I had to do 5 coats and destroy an entire weekend and overspend. Most paints you only have to do 1 or 2 at most. Returned what was left to finish the other rooms and bought real paint. I would not recommend this paint to anyone. I NEVER write reviews.... the fact you are reading this is how disappointed I am in this product.

Hi William, thank you so much for taking the time to review and share your feedback, we really appreciate it! We would like to apologize for the negative experience you had with our Premier Ceiling Paint. Although this paint does provide a high hiding formula, we do not claim that this will happen in one or two coats. There can be many factors as to why this paint required many coats...was it properly aggitated at the store? What was the condition of the surface before painting? What preparation went into the surface before painting? If you would like to provide more information we would love the oppertunity to help, please contact us at premier@ucppaint.com so we can dig a little deeper. Premier

    Thin!

Ceiling Paint supposed to be thicker with more solid matter then the regular latex interior paint. This one however is actually thinner. It does an OK job if you want to repaint a ceiling that is in overall good shape, but if you need to cover some less perfect areas you'll need at least 2-3 coats to have a half decent result. I needed 4-5 coats to finally cover some oil stains on my kitchen right above the cooktop. I know oil stains are though but 2-3 coats should have been enough had the paint was thick enough.

Blisters when recoated or exposed to moisture

I applied a premium PVA primer to the freshly skimmed ceiling prior to applying this paint. The first coat of paint went on fine. The paint was mixed thoroughly and all seemed to be going well. The second coat of paint caused blistering in the first coat, the paint didn't adhere to the primer properly. I would scrape it away, fill in with joint compound to even it out, and it would peel some more just from being moistened by the joint compound. So I scraped more paint away away. I tried priming it with a good sealing primer again, it peeled on exposure to the primer. Basically any exposure to any moisture at all, be it paint, primer, plaster, water, etc, is causing it to bubble/blister. The paint seems to have extremely bad adhesion to the primed surface. I have been trying to patch and repair any bubbling parts for weeks, only for more bubbles/blisters to appear, and now have undertaken the difficult task of scraping the entire 800sqft ceiling to remove every trace of this paint, it is a horrible product. I have never had this problem before with any paint. No, it is not moisture in the substrate causing this, the substrate was dry prior to painting and even now. The paint is just garbage.

Q: Is this paint suitable for a popcorn ceiling not previously painted?

    1 Answer
    • A: Yes of course! We would recommend applying a primer first (Premier Specialty Multi-Purpose Primer #48-8779) and to be applied with a 15mm (0490756) or 18mm (0490732) roller, depending on the toughness of the surface.

Q: does this paint go on in a colour then dry white?

    1 Answer
    • A: No, this paint goes on white. However, our Premier Specialty Ceiling Paint, Pink (SKU# 0488775) goes on pink and dries white.
