OK, but could easily be better

The good: while it says that it is for water-based finishes, it worked well for putting some Thompsons (oil-based) stuff on my deck.
The bad: I didn't check how tightly the pad was held down when I started. Part way through, the pad comes out of the holder. It was neither easy nor neat to get the sloppy wet pad back between the clamp pieces. I guess at the factory the person gave it a cursory tightening, but a couple more turns would have been good.
The ugly: the wing nuts to tighten the pad in place are threaded onto screws. These are flat head screws which have nothing but a bit of friction against the wooden block to keep from turning. So while I am trying to reseat the pad, I need
- one hand to tighten,
- one hand to hold everything, and
- another hand to hold the end of the screw to keep the screw from spinning while the wing nut is turned.
Like most people, I don't have three hands.
They need to lose the flat heat screws (which are in a countersuck recess) and put in a screw with a hex (bolt) head, which will more likely grip the wood as the wing nut is tightened.
