Q: I have a cedar cabin that's in desperate need of re-staining next year. Would this be ideal to use during summer or should I go the premier active if im doing it in summer? Cheers

    • A: Premier - Product expert or Bill33 is there a 5 gallon option available? I want to not have to use so many paint buckets and I'm going to use a spray gun. I'm looking at approx 10-15 gallons needed roughly. Love this product btw used Premier Extra semi-trans cedar on my front porch, side entrance and back deck with proper prep (wood cleaner, food filling and sanding) and it seems to do well was under time crunch doing it in Sept/Oct but thankfully it was sitting above 5*C during the night. Cedar colour does look a little darker but i think it's because of using a paint brush it coated a little thicker than using a spray gun. Didn't matter the missus preferred it anyway because she wanted a darker stain. And also when using wood filler, don't go Lepage unless its you need to fill big cracks, use Elemer's probond max golden oak. Its blends better with the stain and isn't as visible after 1-2 coats. I'll put a review after 2yrs to show before and after pics to show the proof in the pudding

Q: Do I need to give a second coat of semi transparent stain? If yes how long after the first coat ?

    1 Answer
    • A: Hi Margot, great question! 2 thin coats are recommended and the second coat may be applied minimum 2-24 hours after the first coast has dried. Of course this also depends on your current weather conditions as they could affect drying time. Should you have any further questions please contact us by email at premier@ucppaint.com
