backflow preventer

Works as advertised. Bought the 3" model and it worked for my drain diameter. Using one was also strongly suggested by my home insurance company. Good value for the expense.

This one is too LARGE AND the one ai bought 1st go was too small so back it goes.

Perfect but...

a year ago
lessons learned: - tie a string to its top, to hold it in place vertically until there is plenty of side tension...or be ready to go fishing for it - the spring length and tension is designed to take into consideration that the rubber puck shrinks under compression. Don't cut it...or be ready to go fishing for the cut piece - check that the valve stem (inside the spring) is completely screwed into the valve...or be ready to go fishing for the fallen bit - for convenience, start turning the compression screws before full entry into the drain pipe ...or be ready to chase it vertically down the pipe

Q: How does it work when flood stops..ie..where does the water go or does it just recede back in sewage drain out side

  • A: In the event of overflow/flood it would just stop the water from overflowing until the water recedes back to house drain.
