The savings aren’t worth the potential risk

Bought this filter Monday, after completing my oil change I developed a misfir P0300 and an oil pump stuck in high pressure P06DE code. After days of searching for electrical gremlins and research I eventually realized it had to be the oil filter restricting flow to the VVT causing the misfire and throwing the high pressure code from the pressure solinoid in the oil cooler. Swapped it out and my issues have subsided. If you like your vehicle do not put this filter in your vehicle it can damage your engine and cats. I’ve trusted these filters for years but now I will not put another in my vehicles.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I have been using Fram filters for many years. I like how their website will give you the Filter number for virtually every motor ever manufactured. Fram filters always last and never fail.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Poor fitment

Disappointed with the fit. The filter did not seat properly in the canister housing despite many attempts. I've never had this problem with Mahle or OEM filters. Filter media looks quality regardless if it doesn't seat properly then it's questionable if the filter will work.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Not every oil filter is purchased for a vehicle. So could I please find a Fram PH6607 filter without supplying a vehicle. It's for a diesel ngine on a boat!

2 Answers
  • A: Yes, I was inquiring about the PH6607 filter. I know I need this particular filter as I used it last time I changed the oil on my boat, and the time before that. I simply wanted to check which local store had it in stock and in what aisle. In order to do that, I had to google which vehicles use that filter then tell your website I had one of those vehicles in order to find out that yes, you had it in stock. Then I had to tell your website I no longer owned that vehicle or it would only show me stuff for that made up vehicle! That's kind of ridiculous. Despite the hassle, I did go buy it from your store yesterday.

  • A: Hello there, Yes, the Fram PH16 is compatible with 20W-50 oil. However, if you're using 20W-50 for heavy-duty or high-performance reasons, consider upgrading to a more robust filter like the Fram Tough Guard (TG16) or Fram Ultra Synthetic (XG16) for better performance and protection. Please contact your nearest store for more information. Thanks
