Electric contact grease for wet conditions

I finally found this. The biggest challenge was to find it. And one had to find someone to ask, which required me to wait in line and then find a free auto department staff to ask where it was located. It was hidden away. It was not on display in the auto department. It was not on display in the outdoor camping and sports department. I had to ask someone in the sporting area who went away and secured it for me. If anyone from Canadian Tire reads this — I suggest it be put in plain view in the automotive department.

Q: Is this grease environmentally friendly? Can I use it on the electrical constructions on my fish pond pump?

A: Hello Don, nice to see that you are taking some care and concern for the fish in your pond by asking this great question. The primary use of Permatex Marine Dielectric Grease is on electrical components on boats, trailers and other marine equipment. It is a corrosion inhibiting silicone based grease that seals out contaminants that can damage electrical parts. It also prevents moisture intrusion to insulate and inhibit oxidation of electrical connections, and it resists water washout. It is used it in fish tanks and underwater to insulate and protect electrical connections from moisture and corrosion. Furthermore, it is not soluble in water, so it will not directly contaminate water. It is not officially rated as Environmentally Friendly, but it is not toxic as it does not contain any toxins in the formula. If you are not comfortable with this product in your pond, you could use a Fish Tank Silicone Sealant that is safe for aquatic life, but that product would need to be cured in the air for hours and would dry to a solid rubber consistency and would be more difficult to remove, unlike the semi-solid dielectric grease that does not cure and keeps the same consistency as when applied and that can be easily removed when needed.
