      Great product

This is a really good product for anyone. I do service work and use it on electrical contacts that may come in contact with moisture.

      Yes, I recommend this product.

      Great for Auto Electric Connections

I purchased this to use when I replaced a headlight bulb to ensure a water-free connection. Then, since I had it, I also put some on my travel trailer electrical connection. This was great because not only does it keep the water away but I makes it much easier to hook up the trailer plug because of the lubrication.

      Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Is this a one time use product? How long will it last after the first use?

      1 Answer
      • A: Hello, thank you for your question on Permatex Dielectric Grease. This is a difficult question to answer because it very much depends on the environment the electrical connection is exposed to. Conditions such as the following will effect ongoing performance: - is the connection exposed to outside elements - will the connection come in contact with water (eg. marine batteries, ATV's, Dirt Bikes, trailer connections, etc.). - is the environment near the ocean (saltwater) These are just some of the conditions that can greatly effect ongoing performance and maintenance. But in general, if the connection is in an enclosed environment and the connection remains undisturbed, dielectric grease can last for years without re-applying. Thank you.

Q: I don't understand. You say its non conductive but its ok to put on battery terminals? How can something that is an insulator be good for conducting voltage?I put some on my weakening car battery last night (hoped to help) and this morning it wouldn't start

      1 Answer
      • A: Thank you for your inquiry. Permatex Dielectric Grease is an "insulator" against voltage loss, arching and leaking. It is not conductive. Where there is 100% metal-to-metal contact, an electrical flow will pass through the connection without disruption. However, when a connection has gaps between the metal-to-metal connection, the electrical flow can be disrupted by voltage arcing and leakage. Dielectric grease insulates these "gaps" to help prevent stray voltage. In other words, it forces the electrical flow to the metal-to-metal contact. As well, dielectric grease is also commonly used in exposed connections to protect them from moisture, salt, dirt and corrosion. A common example is trailer wiring.

Q: IS the aerosol a fine spray, narrow, wide, stream? I'd like to apply dielectric to LED Christmas light sockets... a guick shot of aerosol would be more convenient than dabbing a "cream".

      1 Answer
      • A: The aerosol dispenses in a wide, consistent stream. This product is recommended for 12V applications. Also dielectric grease is a non-conductive insulator and should not be used on surfaces that require metal to metal contact.

      1 Answer
      • A: This grease does act as a spray but it is designed specifically for electrical applications such as spark plugs. If you are looking to save some money or buy a more multipurpose spray grease we would recommend 3-in-1 such as product # 038-1563.
