Permatex Blue Medium Strength Threadlocker is OEM specified. It is an all-purpose threadlocker ideal for nut and bolt applications 1/4" to 3/4" (6mm to 20mm). Eliminates need for stocking expensive lock nuts and lock washers. Locks and seals while preventing parts from loosening due to vibration. Protects threads from corrosion. Removable with hand tools for easy disassembly. Conforms to ASTM D 5363 AN0321 (Mil-S-46163A, Type II, Grade N).

Q: What is the shelf Iife Permatex 242 both before and after opening. Same need to know loctite blue
4 years agoA: Hello, thank you for your question on Permatex Threadlocker. Threadlocker is an anaerobic adhesive that only cures when confined within a space that has no air and is in contact with metal. The ideal environment for threadlocker to cure is within the threaded assembly of metal fasteners. The shelf life for Threadlockers can be numerous years, so long as the container is stored at room temperatures and the bottle maintains enough air in it. Due to these variables, we cannot offer a specific shelf life other than numerous years. We expect that Loctite Threadlockers would have a similar shelf life opportunity. Threadlocker tubes and bottles are purposely larger than the stated fill amount so that enough air is available to keep the Threadlocker from curing. FYI - repeatedly touching the tip of the nozzle to metal surfaces (such as metal fasteners) can cause the threadlocker to begin curing within the nozzle. Letting the threadlocker "drop down" on the fastener will help prevent threadlocker from curing inside the nozzle. Thank you again for your question.
