Inaccurate Product Description

This is actually a "Cross-Cut" Shredder, not a
"Confetti Cut", which produces larger shreds.

A few pages at a time (forget about 8 pages)

Thought a pricier unit would fit the bill, "wrong"! I purchased not quite a week ago, took it home to shred 3 boxes of paper, old bank statements, cheques, receipts, legal documents that I had filed and since had placed in banker boxes and stored in basement. I constructed slab of wood with a hole the size of shredder, secured large clear plastic bag to it and dropped in the shredder, rigged the safety switch under it with two popsicle sticks so it would run. Shredded 2 and 3 pieces of paper at a time and in about 10 minutes red light came on, unit shut down "overheated". In a couple of hours I returned and it ran about the same length of time and red light, shut down, overheated again. Continued when ever I had spare time to shred for 10 minutes and it shut down. Yesterday getting fed up with this I decided I would return the unit as it wasn't a heavy enough unit to do what I wanted when in the middle of my usual 10 minutes it "red light shut down" returned later, motor worked shredder did not. Packed it up, read operating manual that indicated use for 2 minutes and wait 10 minutes. Returned to store and advised why I returned it and that the motor ran but the shredder did not and that it was to be used 2 minutes in 12. "Looking for Heavy Duty Unit".
No, I do not recommend this product.

la déchiqueteuse a arrêté de fonctionner après 11 mois. Le service à la clientèle était tellement mauvais (entre autre en me faisant répéter éternellement la même information) que j'ai abandonné.
Je ne ferai plus jamais affaire avec cette compagnie.

Zero issues with product.
Been using it for over a year, works well. can usually run for quite some time before getting warm.
If shredding a lot have a box handy you can move shredding to before it gets too packed and the air flow is better.

Meh - not impressed

This thing goes on an overheat frenzy every 50-60 pages. I have to wait 20 minutes before it starts up again. It's not even warm to the touch.
I might as well chew through the papers myself.

A: definitely not. The motor isn't strong enough to do more than 2-3 sheets of paper at a time.

Q: Confetti cut vs cross-cut paper shredders in ad? Can you compare the features of the two shredders that appear in this week's flyer for me please. Do they do staples? Motor strenght? Number of sheets before should let shredder cool? Best bang for the buck?

A: Both shredders in the ad are confetti / cross-cut - these are the same. The basic difference between the 2 units is that one is a 6 sheet and the other is a 10 sheet with a larger basket. Both of them do staples. The 10 sheet would have a more powerful motor, simply because it has to do 10 sheets at a time vs 6 sheets. Basically, the units can run 2 - 3 minutes continuously on full load before stopping and then you should be ok letting it rest / cool for 10 minutes. If you are running it at less than capacity load, the units should be able to run for extended periods without stopping. The 10 sheet unit would give you "best bang for the buck".
