Assembly

I bought this last week just before Christmas. Finally put it together. Easy assembly, great instructions. Follow what goes where according to the diagrams and done in no time. Did it by myself. We'll see how it works. I tried it with the bar I have but one weight is on inside of stand. Not wide enough distance between weights. Need new barbell.

The worst customer service

Works as a generic bench - you get what you pay for. My purchase came with unthreaded bolts and with a dented upright (the part that is vertical, it was dented but not unusable). In the product box, it came with paper that said not to return to retailer if there were defects (Canadian Tire), rather to contact the company directly (so I did, regretfully). They ONLY have an email contact. So it took 7 MONTHS before I got any replacement parts (with over 20 emails back and forth - majority from me asking for an update). They only set 1 of 2 requested items, of which the replacement part that came is a DIFFERENT COLOUR (grey opposed to black) than what I requested for. I do not want to interact with the company again, so I give up and would advise to just spend your money elsewhere. Customer service was absolutely atrocious.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Very disappointed with this purchase , as another review states it’s unusable in any position other than flat as you would have to pull from quite far behind your head. Maybe it’s your over 6 feet and already into lifting it might work for you but I doubt it.

Q: Would a standard 6 foot bar be compatible with this or only the 7 foot?

  • A: As far as I know only a 7 foot bar will work properly. I haven't been able to find one yet and have just been using dumbbells.

Q: With this bench are the support racks adjustable so you can use for doing squats?

  • A: Hi Georgie, yes the racks are adjustable but I wouldn’t rely on them for squats. You will have to go into deep squat position in order to pick up the weight. Moreover, there is not enough space since the rack is attached to the bench. But depending upon height, shorter people might be able to pull it off. I am 5’11 and I can’t do it with heavier weights. But this is good bench for bench press if assembled properly.

  • A: The Cap Barbell Olympic Bench does not fold up for storage when not in use. It stays in place on the floor. The Bowflex 3.1S Stowable Bench #184-0046 folds for storage but is not Olympic compatible .
