So bright!

It was time for an upgrade. I retired my old 800 series and Terrova, with a new Ulterra Quest and a pair of XPLORE finders with a Mega Live 2 to boot. The brightness and clarity is amazing, and having touch screen and buttons is great if you are wearing gloves. I am considering getting an Apex next year and move the 10 up front.

Clear pictures and bright

I bought the Xplore 9 with the included transducer. Installed the transducer so that it’s level in the water. I can see trees, tires, bait balls etc but I can’t see the individual fish in a school of crappie. I’ve watched every YouTube video I can find to figure out what’s wrong. I recently watched a video where it was suggested I put a high speed 2D transducer (XNT 14 HW T) along with my side imaging transducer and it will give me better separation between individual fish. I’ve ordered that along with a Y cable and will see how that works. I have an acquaintance that sent me pictures of his Humminbird unit and you can clearly see the school of crappie (individual fish) on his side imaging and down imaging. There’s no doubt those are fish. I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong. As far as I know there could be something defective with my unit and I’d never know. Just not working like I had hoped for.

Very nice fish finder

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This fish finder is a very nice unit. I absolutely love it and want another for the front deck. Touch screen is awesome and the clarity of the screen and imaging is amazing. GPS works greats and the maps are nice.

Fast and simple to use great features!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I found the Xplore unit very easy to use, almost too easy if you’re used to the old software on the Solix units. The only negative is support for NMEA2000 for engine data. The new software is seriously lacking. The older software has way more options. You would think a standard such as NMEA2000 which has been around for such a long time, would be easy to add. I hope further updates address this issue! But all in all, I'm happy with the unit since it has operated flawlessly.

Makes helix obsolete

This unit is a great update from the helix units. Touchscreen, waypoint marking and different views are easy as is way to change settings with no more complicated menu. Uses thicker cable for the transducer and power than helix. Compatible with one boat network. The included lake master card is below par in Northern Ontario as compared to the navionics so I upgraded.
