Works if You're Stuck

I bought this about a month ago after my cats broke my last pour over pot and have to say that I'm actually extremely disappointed I didn't just wait for the coffee pot I had before to come back in stock. The carafe's shape is awful. The plastic cap they provide to clip in when you're ready to pour DOES help, a bit, but it doesn't fix the fact that you have to tip the pot almost entirely upside down to have any success pouring out all the coffee. I always have about a cup of it that's a pain to pour out without making a huge mess, even with the pour cap. The corkboard "grip" seems to be more for heat protection than actual grip. Doesn't really make it any easier to hold the pot, and the leather cord gets in the way. We had to tie it up into a knot, which gets really annoying when time comes to wash the pot. The filter is terrible. I've tried using it dozens of times without a paper filter and it doesn't matter what coffee I use or how slow I pour, my coffee comes out watery every time unless I use a paper filter. My husband, who was a barista, also can't get a not-watery cup out of it without a paper filter. Coffee grinds also stay stuck in it without a paper filter, so I've switched to the filter that came with my old pot instead. It also does not have an 8 cup capacity. My husband and I each use a 16oz mug in the morning for coffee, which is only about half the pot's supposed capacity, but even a completely full pot doesn't quite fill both our cups, so the portion that actually holds coffee has maximum a 4 cup capacity, not 8. Overall, I'm giving it two starts because it works - I can make coffee, and a decent cup if I use a paper filter, and the plastic pouring cap is nice. Still would not recommend to anyone.

Coffee made simple

I purchased this to eliminate the use of plastic when making coffee, and it does not disappoint - there is a plastic rim around the metal filter but water does not touch or pass through it. The filter mesh is very fine but we still use a paper filter to eliminate any fine grinds at the bottom. We love this coffee maker!
