    I purchased this to eliminate the use of plastic when making coffee, and it does not disappoint - there is a plastic rim around the metal filter but water does not touch or pass through it. The filter mesh is very fine but we still use a paper filter to eliminate any fine grinds at the bottom. We love this coffee maker!

    love it! just remember to pour hot water over the grinds for 30 seconds to let the gases escape from the coffee....then pour the water over. I use a paper filter inside the stainless steel filter.
