The Vermont Castings PWR POD Fire Starter (Tool Only) ignites charcoal, briquettes, wood chips, chunks, logs, or pellets in minutes without fluid. This universal battery-powered igniter system is 100% compatible with the MASTERCRAFT 20V MAX battery system for versatile use (battery not included). Reaching an ignition temperature of 1472°F (800°C), the PWR POD Fire Starter lights coals in just 60 seconds as the 55 km/hr (35 MPH) blowing air speed spreads the fire quickly. With an easy point-and-press button operation, this igniter releases no flame, gas, or chemicals. The two modes include a Burn to activate heat and fan for ignition, and a Blow to boost existing flames. The safety switch defaults to OFF while the cool-touch outer casing prevents burns. The stable base also conveniently functions as a bottle opener.

At first I was skeptical, particularly with only 2 amp battery but to my surprise, the lighter worked as advertised and only used one bar of power. No more plugging in the electric lighter again.

Does what it claims!

Not a paid review - just an end user. This works very well - similar but slightly different to plug in lighters. Lights lump charcoal in 60 seconds or less. You do need to use the blower function for a bit after ignition. The battery ratings on the box are pretty accurate at least as far as the 2amp battery. You need to hold the ignition or blower button but it’s not stiff so it’s easy to use. Weight and balance with the 2 amp battery is very good.

This tool makes it quick and easy to start a fire. When i used it to start a wood fire with paper it was simple to point it at the paper and hold the button until the paper lit on fire, then the blower made the fire takeoff from there all within a minute. Works great on charcoal for grilling too and much better and easier than the chimney style charcoal lighters i have used before
