The Sonic 80X Kids Kayak is a 7'9" kayak best suited for smaller paddlers. Built on a twin tunnel hull, this sit-on-top kayak is easy to maneuver and offers superior stability on the water, meaning more safety for your kids! It features molded footrests, an adjustable Ergoform G2™ padded backrest, self-bailing scupper holes and a bottle holder. It also offers a rear tank well for storing your gear. Ce kayak est assez court pour entrer à l'arrière de mon véhicule (Sienna). Je voulais pouvoir le déplacer seul et éviter d'avoir un rack sur le toit de la voiture. C'est parfait pour cette utilisation et aller facilement sur l'eau de façon récréative. Il y a certains désavantages à avoir un kayak si court (et basique), voir la revue sur Youtube (très utile). Si ce modèle correspond à vos besoins c'est une bon achat. J'ai ajouté des poignées pour le transporter plus facilement et c'est parfait.

Item okay but condition unsatisfactory

I purchased the items online for pickup. They were stacked on top of each other and I didn’t notice that one of the seat straps was completely damaged (ripped in half) until I got home. This is not a quick fix, but now I have to buy a whole New seat. Very disappointed that it was damaged before I left the store.

Great multi-purpose kayak

Nice size, good weight. Fits in the back of the truck nicely. Great size as a flexible size for my daughter and as an extra that can also be used by an adult. Very agile in the water, not as fast or as a deeper hulled style but works great on a low current river we use it on.

Q: Why do people say their butts get weight? Is that the “self bailing” holes? Is there a way to prevent it? Thank you

A: If you look carefully at the shape of the kayak where the seat is, you will notice that the shape tilts backward into the seat. That means that any water that comes over the kayak or gets splashed in from water from the ore will flow right into the seat area because it is the lowest point. Hence the wet buttl!

A: Good afternoon, As long as the max capacity is respected the kayak will function as intended. For the Sonic 80X the max capacity is 225lbs. The closer you are to the max capacity the lower the kayak will sit in the water. Keep that in mind when choosing your kayak Hope this helps Regards

Q: what is a self bailing system?

A: By "self Bailing" they mean water drains out through what are called "scupper holes". These are holes that are molded into the hull of the kayak and allows water that comes over top into the cockpit and storage areas drains out through these holes. a lot of people think "won't it sink with holes in it" but not the way a sit on top kayak is designed. the holes dont go into the hull. its like a surf board, if it flips over it still floats.

A: Both kayaks are ideal for a novice kayaker, the choice is more in preference of either an open cockpit (Sit on top kayak Apex 80 XE) or a closed one (Sit-in kayak Pursuit 80 XE).

Q: I am only 4' 10" so I know I will have enough leg room. I am wondering how long the part you sit in is because I would like to be able to take my dog on it. I am thinking he could just lay in front of my feet.

A: Please find attached a spec sheet for the 8’ sit on top Sonic kayak, it being a 7’9’’ kayak sufficient leg space to bring along your pet should be fine. It is important, to respect the maximum weight capacity.
