Bought to waterproof a tent fly. Put two solid coats on. Started using a paint brush but In the end a recycled spray bottle is way faster and even more efficient for coverage and saturation. 2 coats and water beeds up and runs off with no moisture transfer on the underside or along seams. so far, I'm impressed.

A: I have found the most effective way to apply it is with a large paint brush but it also works with a paint sprayer. (Always ware a mask, toxic prior to drying). Allow to dry at a temperature of +20 in the sun ideally as the UV also helps bond it.

A: I used it successfully on Woods tent fabric, which should, but may not be, the same as acrylic fabric. After three coats the tent became rainproof.

Q: Can I spray this on my boat cover while it is on my boat or will it penetrate and drip through into the boat? Since the cover is an awkward shape, it would be difficult to do while flat on the ground.

A: I brush this onto tents when they’re set up. Also awkward shapes. It’s very liquid, but it’s never soaked through the tent fabric to the inside. I do use two or three this coats though.

Q: As our gazebo is tall we wanted to apply the product using a long handle with a roller at the end. I know you do not recommend a foam roller but can we use premium lint free roller? When applying the product should it be a thick or think coat?

A: Thank you for the inquiry. You can try a lint free roller and see how that works. Test on a small area first. This is a solvent based product, so you want to ensure all areas under where you are working are covered / protected to avoid damage to decks, driveways, grass, etc. While you do not want to overdo the amount of liquid being applied and cause excess seepage or dripping through the material, you do need to ensure good coverage, much like painting a surface. Leave to dry at least 24 hours and then test for water repellancy. You should check with the manufacturer to ensure there are no specific directions on what type of additional protection to add to the surface of the material as this product that could damage any coating already there.

Q: Is this product safe to use on horse blankets?

A: The Silicone solution (not the canvas), is safe on most horse blanket and personal sleeping bags. Particularly Greenhawk's brands that are initially treated by the company with chemical water proofing. This product is not recommended on The Horsewear Irerland line brand of blankets as they are designed to breath-dry and the chemical will damage the under coating on the blankets. Horswear doesn't cover warranty when using chemical water proofing or chemical laundry soap on their blankets.

Q: Can this be used on vinyl coated canvas, if so, the vinyl side or the canvas side? Do you have an other product you can recommend for the vinyl or canvas side? thanks

A: Thank you for the inquiry. Please check the manufacturer's instructions for adding additional protective coatings to the canvas. The solvent based Silicone Waterproofing can damage some existing coatings. We also have a Canvas Waterproofing Liquid, but the same applies. You would need to see if this could damage the vinyl coating already on the material.
