The Hoppe's Boresnake Viper takes the technology of the original Boresnake and increases the cleaning power by adding an additional set of brushes. This one-pass bore cleaning solution uses integrated bronze brushes to scrub out carbon fouling, while the tail clears the barrel of loose debris with a surface area 160x larger than a standard patch. It also has an integrated cone-shaped bore guide on the leading end and the brass weight has the caliber stamped on it. Just add Hoppe's No. 9 Cleaner and Oil or Boresnake CLP to the head and tail of the Boresnake and run it through your shotgun bore for a quick clean.

    I bought a less expensive one and I lasted 4 cleanings and did not do as good a job. I’m new to shooting 4 months. I’m also a little compulsive as I clean our guns after every time we shoot.

    Q: can you use a patch at the end? can you run a patch at the end of it? where do you put the oil on it?

    • A: you really should use a rod and patch to do the final oiling of a barrel, because you should keep the oil off the boresnake if possible. Before you clean the gun, run a patch of borecleaner down the barrel first with a rod, then use the boresnake. You can run it down the barrel several times, and it keeps it squeeky clean. I use the boresnake in the field with me , and at the range. Its a quick fix to keep things clean, I still use a brush and cleaner occasionally to give it a concentrated scrubbing.

    Q: Mislabeled? The product is labeled for a 12 gauge shotgun, yet there is a drop down menue with the only option being 22 caliber. So which one is it? I want to purchase on line.

    • A: There is an issue on line showing the 22 calibre product. The SKU number that is referenced is correct for the 12 gauge version.

    Q: can you use it for air rifles Will this be good to clean a airgun ?

    • A: If the boresnake is the correct bore size, it will be perfectly safe to use. If you have a .177 cal then you need a .17 cal bore snake, if you have a .22 pellet gun, you obviously need to use the .22 You can even add some cleaning solution directly to the fabric in front of the built-in-brush to do a 2-in-1 job.
