This is my favorite router. I presently own three and work them to death. It is well balanced, easy to handle, easy to change bits and and most important it is precise. It is easily adaptable to some of the very strange jigs I have made and always performs.

I bought this router 22 years ago, seriously. I have it and happen upon this webpage while researching for a trim base for this router. This router is still going strong after 22 years of onsite cabinetmaker and installer. I've had the fixed base mounted in a small onsite router table and quickly (tool free) switch it to plunge base for all other non-table functions. Plenty of power and built like a beast. This is the only review you need. Work smart. Work safe. Make dust.

I have the same problem many others have had. Can't tighten the collet enough for the bit to stay secure. Bit came flying out in the middle of a job.

Q: I’ve looked for this router model on the Dewalt site and the model number does not show. From what I see the fixed speed router is a DW616 and the variable speed is available on the DW618. So I think the model number here could be incorrect .
