This bike was great transitioning from training wheels. It only has 6 gears, making it easy for my son to grasp the concept. He loves it so much, my husband and I have to take turn for bike rides with him because he wants to go 4 times in a day on the weekend

You get what you pay for

The gears do not shift correctly and cannot be corrected by adjustment. I tested several and they all have the same issue. Also the wheels appear to be warped on almost every single Stratus bike, and the brakes contact the rim every rotation even when not applied. And all the tires are under inflated. Just be prepared to have to inflate the tires, adjust the brakes, and know that your child will not have 6 usable gears. Anyway, not much options in this 18" wheel size which is sad because low gears are essential if you want to go off asphalt or up any hills. I guess you get what you pay for. Perhaps the manufacturer should go with a simple 3 speed setup for this size, that might work better. Also a lightweight aluminum option with 18" wheels would be nice.

Q: I would like to suggest to the manufacturer to make a pink 18" version. My daughter will probably settle for the blue (since it's more teal), but it's hard to find 18" bikes, let alone a mid quality that's suitable for trails with a decent suspension.
