On the inside of the package it notes for length greater than 48 inches a center bracket (sold separately) is required ... Silly that it's not included for this package for widths 48-72.
No, I do not recommend this product.

A: Good Morning, There is no center support for this rod. As long as it is installer per manufacturer guidelines and does not exceed 10lbs per linear foot across the rod, there is no center support needed for this rod. Thank you for your inquiry.
