I got what I ordered instead, and not something else as when I ordered from a different company.

I order a magnesium anode rod from a different company on two different occasions. Both times I got aluminum instead of magnesium, and one of those rods had the threaded head welded on crooked. When I ordered this one from Canadian Tire, I finally got a magnesium one! It is easy to determine if it is aluminum or magnesium by putting a teaspoon of white vinegar on the rod. If it fizzles, it is magnesium. I haven't installed it yet, so I can't comment further. That is why I'm only giving it a 3 out of 5 at this time, but it is nice to actually get what was advertised.

Q: Will this fit a 175L Rheem tank?

  • A: You will have to shut off the water and remove the existing rod. This one is approx 32 inches long with a 3/4 NPT thread. That is common for most anode rods but checkk first
