Never used shutoff valve failed just when needed. Washer eroded and unreplaceable. Useless for its intended purpose

I bought this just for part that you turn, to replace an old one with worn out washers. The plastic handle is adequate, but looks like it could break if one is not sufficiently careful. i would have preferred to buy just that part and not the whole thing, but my store did not carry it.
