    Good performance, bad reliability

I have gone through 3 of these since 2020, they always end up breaking and covered under warranty, but it’s such a hassle having to rip it out, take it back, and replace it. I turned it on last week and again, this one is also broken.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: What is the heat up time? We want to install this product in our trailer. It says its only good for a 2 min 45 sec shower...what is the heat up time so you could continue the shower?? Our current hot water tank does not last long either (propane)

    • A: I'm no expert but I'm no dummy either. The average kitchen kettle is anywhere between 1,000 and 1,500 watts and holds between 4 and 5 litres. and takes about 5 minutes to take cool water up to boiling (212 F or 100 C) The answer you were given was 2 hours to reheat. This makes absolutely no sense. If it truly is 1,500 watts and holds 10 litres and your only needing the water to reach a temp. of about 140F or 60C. Which is " very " hot water . It would be my guess that you'd have hot shower water again, anywhere between 7 and 10 minutes max. There would be an exact formula for this, so you could figure it out almost to the second. But you'd need to know all the variables ie. incoming water temp. and the temp. you want it to reach. Another variable would and could be the voltage to the water heater itself. The 1,500 watt rating would I'm assuming be based on an incoming voltage of 120 Volts. If your running a long extension cord to your trailer and also one that is of a small gauge ie. 16 gauge and not the 12 to 10 gauge that I think would be best. Your voltage to the Heater could be down to 110 volts or less which in turn would reduce your true wattage output hence a much slower water heat-up. I don't know if this is of any help or if you will ever see this as I see your question was asked some 8 months ago. BUT I just had to comment. As I said earlier, the answer of a 2 hour reheat makes absolutely no sense. (better to have NO answer than a Wrong one) P.S. I'm not sure where you read the 2 min. 45 sec. shower time. If they don't no exactly what the Litres per minute output is of your shower-head is, then there is no possible way to no how long the hot water will last. Again there are variables ie. what temp. is the cold water at, that you are drawing from your holding tank and mixing to get your proper water temp. for your shower. If it's sitting at about 60 F and the hot water is at about 140F then you now have 20 litres of water at about 100F which is petty hot water for a shower. Now if your shower-head output is 4 litres per min. then simple math would say you got 5 mins. of warm shower water. But you should in theory have at least another min. +. Because in the 5 mins. since you started using the water, the heater should have warmed up at least another 5 litres. A good hot water saver is a foot petal valve in the shower, which allows you to very simply and easily stop the water flow altogether while.... lets say when washing your hair and you don't need the water pouring over you. The 30 seconds of warm water you save might give you close to another minute of warm water. Who Know's... do it often enough and you might not run out of warm water at all !
