Works for me

We are on a rural pipeline with “city water” but no pressure. We use this to suck out of a storage tank. I think my first one lasted about 4 years. It still pumps but was leaking around a seal. I just purchased another one. They are small. They run whenever you run water which takes some getting used to. Once it’s pumping you can open another faucet and not see a drop in pressure. If you have any drips in your house you will know because it will constantly cut in. I like this. It’s not for everyone though. We keep a spare in our family incase one breaks when a store is closed or not in stock.

This is a good pump. No issues after using it for about 2 months now. Easy to connect and install. Provides consistent water pressure. It's a fair price compared to other available products.

Q: Do I need a tank for this pump? new cottage owner here, so trying my hand at some light handy work. I removed the old pump and tank and nothing but rusty water. So I am looking into a tankless unit.

  • A: If you're using the pump to pump water from one place to another, then no tank is needed. If it's for a domestic water supply, we suggest using a tank for a stable water supply.

Q: Can you reduce the pressure on these pumps?? Mine goes up to 60 and it blows off my relief valve on the hotwater tank.thought it might be my tank but replaced the hotwater tank and still it blows off.

  • A: Our pump runs at 40lbs. There is a small screw on the end of the control panel. But it doesn’t make any difference.

Q: Is it normal on this pump that the pressure gauge only shows pressure when the pump is cycled on? When it kicks out the gauge reads 0? Also having issue where pump loses pressure and prime if it sits for a few hours without use. No leaks, new foot valve.

  • A: The picture in the add has the pump connected to a pressure tank, not required as pump delivers same pressure that is more than any tank I had before.

Q: How do I change the gauge? Is it as simple as unscrewing the old one and screwing in a new one?

2 Answers
  • A: Yes it is!   Turn off the pump let the pressure go down, then unscrew the gauge and screw the new one in

Q: it's been a couple years without issue, but now and it has decided to "fault". The pressure gauge needle is on the wrong side of the stop. Water flows through, but it throws the fault after 2 mins. .any ideas other than there may be a broken pipe?

  • A: Make sure your connections are tight, valves are closed, plugs are tight, nothing is leaking plus check your intake to make sure it is clean & fully functioning.

Q: Is this pump plug in and go, or does it require to be hard wired in? Can't seem to find this information from anything I am reading about it. We have the Bur-Cam model and it is corded.

  • A: It plugs in to a normal 115amp outlet. A few things to note about this pump: (1) it’s pumps about 10am/min under perfect conditions so is fairly weak for a 3/4hp pump; (2) the “swing” between cut-in and cut-out pressure is 25lbs to 60lbs which is not standard; (3) there is no adjustment for the cut-in or cut-off pressures so you’re stuck with that swing. The 25lbs cut-off is too low for my configuration…both my shower diverters howl when the pressure drops below 30lbs and the flow I’m getting is barely enough to build pressure when a tap is open. I’m going to replace this weak pump with a 3/4hp or 1hp Red Lion pump which have 16gpm and 23gpm ratings respectively as soon as possible. I put in a 3/4hp Red Lion pump for my sprinkler system and it rocks AND I can adjust the CI and CO pressures as needed. Good luck!

Q: Have had pump for 6yrs with little to no issues. Now getting lots of air in the water for several days now? Checked for leaks in the plumbing and recently replaced the foot valve...all good. Is there a diaphragm in the pump that may need to be replaced?

  • A: I don’t think the units are serviceable. But I would try to prime it again before disconnecting

Q: What is the PSI of this pump?

2 Answers
  • A: Turns on when pressure drops to approximately 25psi and keeps going as long as there's flow up to approximately 40 psi. Works well for softener and iron regenerator only notice a minimal drop in pressure in sink faucets due to low flow aerator so it takes a bit more time for pump to turn on. Make sure to use good Teflon tape and don't try to over tighten the fitting better to tighten when it leaks then breaking the neck

Q: Mastercraft Well Jet Pump 062-3593-2 Serial # 010454 Is there a minimum and maximum size of water line to run off the pump? How about the number of elbows on the line? Will this effect the pressure?

2 Answers
  • A: Bends or elbows in pipes cause a reduction in the available pressure head at the discharge end of the pipe. Even running through a length of straight pipe reduces the available pressure head, which can be quite noticeable when using a long, small-diameter pipe.

Q: Mastercraft Well Jet Pump 062-3593-2 Serial Number 010454 This pump stops working after one minute if more than one tap is turned on. It then requires a reset. It also requires a reset after 6-8 hours of not turning on any taps or flushing. Suggestions?

2 Answers
  • A: This sounds suspiciously like an input flow issue. For the multiple taps running concurrently, it sounds like the input flow is not able to keep up with the demand. For the 6-8 hours requiring reset, once again, sounds like the pump is losing its prime. Check the input pipe and footer for leaks
